Stop using Proactiv immediately! As MJ said, main ingredient is Benzoyl peroxide, which is also used for bleaching hair and teeth! And pls don't go for Accutane either. Read this so you'll understand why : http://accutane.poweradvocates.com/
As somebody said:"Don't put anything onto your face, you wouldn't put into your mouth!"

wave cleansers from neutrogena are good. I just started using something that is really simple, it is just these small round pads that dry out your skin a little bit or something and they work for me. I'll find out what brand they are for you.

Yes, send it back, and tell them that you would like to stop reciving the product...
Umm.. Yeah, it could eather be a sunburn, or a chemical reaction, or it could be as simple as your sking getting use to the newish product. :)
As for new products, try to wait a little until the burn goes away, and try something a little less stronger, with less benadry peroxide. :)
Or you could see a doctor, they could tell you what the burn is, and could give you new stuff.

I used to use Proactiv and the thing about Proactiv is that the main active ingredient is a bleach. (check the label if you don't believe me)

Proactiv bleached all the towels I dried my face on and left my skin horribly dry when I used to have oily skin.

I would not surprise me if what you have is chemical burn. If you haven't already stop using Proactiv and don't use any cheap anti-acne treatments either (Clearasil, Clean & Clear, etc) because for most of them the active ingredient is also a bleach! This is why you should always read the labels of skin care products and buy things that use aloe or tea tree oil or something else natural.

If you're female (which I assume you are?) ask your GP about a birth control pill that is designed to deal with acne. I am on Estelle and it's worked wonders for me.

If you need to resort to Proactiv to deal with acne in the first place there's a good chance that your bad skin is caused by hormones rather than anything else anyway so give it a go! If it doesn't work then you've lost a very small amount of money compared to the cost of skin care products anyway.

I use Estelle pill + products from The Body Shop and my skin cleared up in no time... just please stop bleaching your face! I used to love Proactiv but after what it did to my skin I will tell anyone that will listen to stay as far away from it as possible.
